We will be continuing on our series “Keys to Growing in the Prophetic”. We keep hearing how people talk about flowing with the Holy Spirit or about flowing under the anointing. But what does it mean? How do we flow under the anointing?
Let me make this simple by sharing my experience from a meeting that we had in recent months. As the meeting was ending and we were praying, initially I felt nothing. But as the worship continued and I was praying, I noticed some people were being highlighted to me. I felt like praying for them first. As I started praying for them, I received inspired thoughts and I started sharing with them. What do I mean by inspired thoughts? These are thoughts that I’m certainly not thinking about because I don’t know them personally to be able to think that way. So it could be regarding their work, job, or trauma they’re going through, etc. It could be anything! So, even if I felt nothing during the meeting, the anointing was present for me to be able to personally prophesy and pray for people. This is important guys. Even if you don’t feel the same way you felt before, it is more important to discern the Presence and the movement of the Holy Spirit. How can we do that? By seeing what He is doing. So, immediately after that, I started feeling heat over my hands, and then over my entire body. I instantly knew that God wanted to heal people and was healing people. So when this happens what should we do? Where is the healing taking place then? In the unseen! And how could I discern it? Through my senses! I felt heat over my hands and then my entire body. Then, according to my last blog, as soon as we perceive what is happening in the unseen, what do we do next? We start to speak and declare it so that it starts to manifest and people can partake of that which is taking place. So from the next time, remember, whatever you discern, share it and speak it to be able to see it manifest. Also, one very important point that we may miss is that a lot of people will already be feeling what you’re feeling or seeing, but they don’t have any reference to what is happening in their bodies until you give words to it and they attach their faith to that which is already happening. During this same meeting, I also felt at the beginning that I should invite people to come forward if they wanted prayer but I didn’t do it. Why? I reasoned in my mind. The most important key to flowing with the Holy Spirit is obedience. He doesn’t like to be controlled. Even if I was disobedient, God did not abandon me in the middle of the meeting! Lol!! He is amazing. He helped me till the end and I saw many breakthroughs that day, during the teaching session and the impartation as well.
Ezekiel 1:12 gives us a very important key that helped me to learn to flow with the Holy Spirit. It says, “Wherever the Spirit would go, they (the living creatures) would go, without turning their back as they went”. To minister effectively under the anointing, we must become aware of what the Holy Spirit is doing and where He is moving. You can discern the flow by the thoughts you receive, visions or pictures in your mind, or any other way the Lord communicates to you. Always remember to ask questions within you and keep talking to the Lord and be aware of His response. As we start flowing, it is important to stop reasoning with our logical brain. Here it says that the living creatures did not even turn back as they went.
There is more to talk about regarding flowing with the Holy Spirit, but I would conclude here today. I want to leave you with a task. I want you to pray this prayer and then do a small task. Pray, “Dear Holy Spirit, who are You thinking about right now. I want to know”. (You’ll be reminded of someone, or have a picture or a thought about someone). Now say, “how can I encourage them today, please tell me”. Then begin to write whatever you receive, and share it with the person you were thinking about. Guess what? It will work!
