Powerful Tip to Grow in the Prophetic

It was a strange feeling during my younger days when I started cycling without the training wheels on the sides! Initially, someone always held the cycle and walked with me. One could easily see the excitement in my eyes, but this thought kept coming back, “if he leaves me, I’ll fall face down”. I remember how my brother pushed the cycle and ran with me as I cycled with a big smile and the wind running across my face, blowing my hair behind! Oh, what a feeling! But the moment I looked back, he wasn’t there! By the time I realised what just happened, I was already down on the road, bleeding. Once I got up, I realised I could cycle a few metres without support.

Learning how to prophesy can be likened to learning to cycle without support. What do I mean? You can only prophesy by faith! There is no looking back. You can never be sure of any word that the Lord gives to prophesy. It is always a step of faith. There are many ways to grow in the prophetic, and today, I want to share a tiny tip that has helped me grow in this.

I once asked the Lord, what were you teaching me in the night as I was sleeping? In those days, I had been desiring to grow in the prophetic. Let me now share what I heard that day.

I heard, “I was releasing the ability to identify thoughts and patterns within you. Patterns are important to identify in the prophetic My Son. Learning to prophesy also means learning to trust. You must trust me with every whisper, every impression, every subtle feeling and write it down. Studying the Word will help you interpret my voice rightly. The lack of my Word will cause you to interpret it to your liking. That’s not a true prophecy, for all prophecies come from My heart. My heart is in my Word. My ways are hidden in my Word, My Son”.

Let me break it down for you with some examples now. When I interact with people, I suddenly feel a sense of fear drop inside me. It is the same fear we feel within ourselves in our usual days, but the only difference here is that it is not constant. It is just for a moment, and it goes. I have now identified this pattern and know that a spirit of fear is involved. Sometimes, when I’m about to do something, I suddenly sense a feeling of restraint. It is as if you’re trying to walk ahead, and someone is restraining you from behind. I have now identified this pattern as not pleasing to the Lord. I can sense this while interacting with people and give them a clear direction based on this pattern, which helps them in the future.
