I want to continue with our series on Hearing the voice of God in our lives. For the next few weeks from now, I will be sharing God moments from my personal life, so that hearing the voice of God and knowing God’s voice becomes a delight for all of you. You see, hearing the voice of the One who created us for a purpose is the best gift that we could ever receive. 

Have you ever wondered, is it possible to hear the voice of God in a shoe store, in the middle of a crowded mall?  Yes it is! 

We were once in a mall, and at this particular footwear store. We were there as a family and wanted to buy a pair of shoes for our sister. As soon as we entered the store, while I was looking at the shoes on display, one particular pair of shoes caught my attention, and I felt “try this”. If I could describe it now, it was like a very gentle voice in my mind. But, I said in my mind, “these shoes look weird and out of fashion for someone young like her”. And I let that thought go away. We were in that store for the next 40-45 minutes and saw almost all the options available. Our cousin tried every shoe that she could and everyone got tired. We all wanted to leave the store. In the end, the sales executive said, “Hey, how about that one”? It was the same pair of shoes that I saw when we entered the store and I let go of that thought thinking they were out of fashion. My cousin tried it and guess what? That particular shoe looked perfect on her! I just told you right that these were the same shoes I saw when we entered the store. I was speechless, expressionless! I felt as if the angels were trolling me. That was a God moment though. I knew at that moment that the Lord had already spoken to me and revealed the best for her. My obedience could have saved our time and energy and not just ours, but for everyone at the store. I learned a lot from this one experience and started paying more attention to my thoughts. I started leaning on to these promptings within my spirit. Have you ever felt something like this? You may have for sure! If you have, congratulations, because you are a prophetic person! You are gifted. My desire and goal from these blogs is to raise a prophetic community where hearing the voice of God becomes practical and fun! From the next time onwards, be intentional to pay attention to all this and grow in the knowledge of your gift. The more you know what you already have, the more intentionally you will start using it and will become a blessing to many. 

Begin to read the bible and pay attention to specific verses that are highlighted. Sometimes it may feel like a few words are popping out. Sometimes you may have a thought like, “oh wow, this verse is so good”. Underline those verses because God is speaking to you through His Holy Spirit. He is teaching you something. Take hold of that verse and start speaking it over your life. Practice this daily. It is not about finishing the Bible but more about knowing the Person of Jesus who is revealed through the Bible as we read it.
