Renewing the mind is a process and it is a conscious decision that you make daily to connect your thoughts to what has already happened on the cross, not with what had happened before in your life. For example, when I struggled with pornography, I started believing in that which had already been done on the cross. That habit was already defeated and crucified. So, the truth was that I had already conquered that habit. Why? When Christ died, I died to everything He died for. Now, I live for all that He lives for. My faith was attached to the fact that the presence of God in me does not require porn or any other bad habits that we struggle with. But you will ask, “Why do we struggle even after knowing this”? Because we fail to understand that everything is appropriate for us now. This is the freedom we have in Christ. But not everything is beneficial for us, so we must make use of our will to choose and do the things that benefit our soul.
Many times when I use social media and if something appears that is not beneficial for me, I use my will to say, “Stanley, you don’t need this anymore”. This realization makes me aware of the fact that I really don’t need it. But the power to say no and move forward only comes from the awareness of the presence of God within us. Be conscious of God’s Presence within you constantly.
When we give in to the urges or cravings of our soul, we satisfy the very pride of the enemy. We caress the very pride of the enemy that says, “no it’s not over, I haven’t lost yet”. You see, that’s when we start becoming a false self of who we are not. Jesus didn’t just die for all our sins, He dealt with sin! He dealt with the root and annihilated it. Each urge or a craving to do something that is not beneficial for us is to satisfy the very pride of the enemy. Don’t give in to his lies. Don’t indulge! Bill Johnson says it like this, “when you acknowledge a lie you empower the liar”. My dear friends, you have not been called to be in a constant place of struggle and striving.
We should come to a place where we start believing and speaking that which has already happened on the cross. You have to speak it into existence. But guess what? Once we start speaking and declaring, there comes a time of incubation. That’s where our faith is tested. I’ll give you an example. Jesus declared, “It is done”. But the manifestation took place only on the third day. There was one very important incident which we often overlook, ‘Saturday’. Do you know what was happening over there on the second day? Total silence! It was Sabbath. Do you know what was happening in the spirit realm on Saturday? Chaos! The word spoken on the cross was fulfilling its purpose. Every prophecy made thousands of years ago was fulfilling its purpose. In every sense, “all hell broke loose upon hell”. And the very next day, the Son of God was resurrected. So remember, there are different seasons in our life. When it is time to believe and declare, you do it. But when it’s time to be quiet and wait, do it. Do not lose your faith in these seasons. Do not lose hope when things are not going the way you believed they would be. To believe in the truth is to be empathetic to what Christ has done for us in our place. To believe is to accept what has already been completed on the cross. We believe in our hearts and declare what we believe with our mouths.
Today, if there is something you are struggling with, my only advice is, stop trying and trying. Your worrying will not benefit you in any way. Gather your thoughts and think about who you are as a son and a daughter in the kingdom of God and all that your Heavenly Father has given you.
Do this – breathe in while thinking of all that you have received from God as your inheritance in Christ, and speak it out while exhaling! Do this a couple of times and see how you start feeling soon after this. God is for you, He loves you.
