Can we buy a land or a house without having the money for it? “Well, you must have the cash to do this”, I always thought, until the Holy Spirit revealed how Abraham kept increasing. Today, I want to share what I learned from Abraham’s life and how we can apply this principle to possess lands and houses to bring glory to God!
After Abraham’s wife Sarah passed away, we read in Genesis 23 that he wanted to buy a burial site for her. Being a jew, he was living as a stranger in Canaan, and he asked the prominent landowners of that place to sell him their land to bury his wife. It’s incredible to see how they responded in the fifth verse to him, saying, “You are a mighty prince of God among us”. In another translation, they meant, “You are like God living among us”. Abraham wanted to buy a cave but received the entire field where the cave was. He also paid in full for the same. Now, the question is, how did he do it? Let me break this down for you.
As I was reading Genesis 23, the Lord said, “Son, Abraham first gained spiritual territory over the region before possessing the lands. The key to possessing lands is first gaining spiritual territory over the region and then moving forward to receive it in the natural”. It did not happen overnight for Abraham. It was a journey of twenty-five years of ups and downs, testing and different struggles, but in the end, God’s faithfulness and Abraham’s faith in God prevailed. When Jesus walked the earth, it says He went about doing good and healing everyone. In the end, He sent His disciples to some prominent men of the town, asking for a donkey and once to prepare a room for all of them to have fellowship. Guess what? The moment they heard the Lord needed it, they got the work done. Jesus had tremendous favour with God and man. How? He focused on fulfilling his purpose on earth. He focused on preaching the gospel, healing, delivering the sick, and doing good.
Today, when we focus on the command that Jesus has given us to preach the good news, to share our testimonies to the people around us, to lay our hands on the sick and heal them and deliver those oppressed by the devil, what is happening in the spirit realm? We are gaining territory over our region. What happens when we consistently pray for our areas and the salvation of the people, for God to allow us to pray for the sick and deliver the people from oppression? We are gaining spiritual territory, and eventually, it will result in tremendous favour, and we will receive lands and houses that our hands have not toiled for. Where will the money come from? Well, the same way Abraham got a hold of it. You and I must focus on fulfilling our purpose and praying consistently for our area, and God will certainly do the rest.
